IISc, Prorigo build a homegrown patent management software


Pune: Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) and Pune-based Prorigo Software have constructed a homegrown patent management software focused at educational establishments and small legal professional companies. This will price a fraction of these offered by world companies, they stated.

“This will help automate and streamline the patent filing process for the IP cells at academic institutes,” stated IISc Associate Professor Srinivasan Raghavan, who led the event of the device with Prorigo. “It will also free up time to allow for translating the intellectual property to industry.”

Most patent management software at the moment out there in India have been developed by multinational firms and is geared toward both company customers or massive authorized companies.

The product can be out there in three modules. The first module, authorized agreements, has been launched. The second model, which automates the monetary half, can be launched in a few months, and the third module, which is able to use synthetic intelligence to judge a patent, can be launched in 2022.

“This is an indigenous software and while developing it, we have also learnt how to define the process. We hope that once this is translated, the benefits can be shared with institutes in India and abroad as well,” stated IISc Director Govindan Rangarajan.
